The table shows that prop firms are not directly regulated. Some firms claim to work with regulated liquidity providers, but when asked to name them, they decline, citing NDAs, which is not reassuring.
Key points on regulation:
- Most prop firms operate without direct oversight by financial regulators.
- It is difficult to verify which end liquidity providers prop firms actually use. We were unable to confirm this.
- Some firms reportedly use regulated liquidity providers for live accounts, which offer some degree of safety. Unfortunately, we could not verify that this is truly the case.
- Lack of regulation does not automatically mean unreliability.
Conclusion: Practical tips for choosing a firm
When selecting a firm, carefully check its history and reviews from other traders. It is advisable to start with a smaller account to test the service and to read the entry programme terms thoroughly. Verify payout options, the scaling plan, and the availability of customer support. The safety and regulation of liquidity providers also matter. Identifying the end liquidity providers is difficult, if not unrealistic, and in practice relies on taking the prop firm at its word.
